On October 28, 2024, the candidate forum for the upcoming election on November 5, 2024, took place at the WNMU Besse Forward Global Resource center. The forum had Gabriel Ramos and Chris Ponce facing off. Neither one would be an incumbent. Senator Siah Correa Hemphill withdrew from the race.
Nick Seibel, Silver City Daily Press publisher, moderated the forum. The candidates received questions from the audience, Facebook, and the Press writer Juno Ogle. Each would answer the same question and had two minutes.
Each candidate gave a three-minute opening statement.

On October 28, 2024, the candidate forum for the upcoming election on November 5, 2024, took place at the WNMU Besse Forward Global Resource center. The forum had incumbent Luis Terrazas and Gabrielle Begay facing off.

Gila Regional Medical Center held its annual Trunk or Treat event on Halloween, Oct. 31, 2024 in one of the mail parking lots. More than 100 people were already lined up ready to enter the area before the event was slated to begin. Hospital groups, Western New Mexico University, the Pinos AltosVolunteer Fire Department, the Grant County Sherriff's Office were among those having booths to hand out candy to to the kids and parents in creative costumes.
The Grant County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that occurred Friday, Nov. 1, 2024. On Nov. 2. 2024, deputies were dispatched to a location just west of Santa Clara in reference to a female subject suffering gunshot wounds. Through the investigation, the Grant County Sheriff's Office was able to determine the suspect to be Anthony J. Aveles. It appeared that Mr. Aveles shot the victim while on the highway as she was traveling. Mr. Aveles fled in his own vehicle soon after.
